When Spelman College engaged Coxe Curry & Associates in 2006, President Beverly Daniel Tatum was interested in cultivating stronger relationships with Atlanta-based funders. Coxe Curry was a natural choice to help Spelman explore funding opportunities in its own backyard. Our firm delivered on that promise… and so much more. We forged a dynamic partnership with Spelman that continues to this day.
After a feasibility study and campaign planning period, we worked hand-in-hand with Spelman staff to launch the College’s $150 million comprehensive campaign, targeting local and national donors and inspiring them to make transformational gifts. Our team evolved over time to meet client needs, even offering on-site support during staff transitions to help the Institutional Advancement department continue to run smoothly.
Coxe Curry provides incomparable service – from developing high-level solicitation strategies at monthly campaign meetings with Spelman’s top leadership to providing help with projects when Institutional Advancement needs extra hands.
We support the success of this remarkable client in many ways both large and small. We are especially proud that Spelman College was the only higher education institution to receive a capital challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation in 2011. Our firm has an impressive track record with Kresge, developing successful proposals for 23 Kresge grantees over the past 15 years. As the Foundation shifted its focus away from capital funding, it gave a meaningful nod to Spelman’s legacy of educating women of African descent by investing in the renovation of historic Laura Spelman Rockefeller Hall.
