Tavia McCuean

Campaign Director

Octavia “Tavia” McCuean is a Campaign Director at Coxe Curry & Associates. Tavia brings more than 30 years of experience working with the nonprofit and business sectors with a primary focus on conservation and environmental stewardship. 

Prior to joining Coxe Curry, Tavia served as Vice President of Stewardship and Conservation for the Forestar Group, a real estate and natural resources company committed to environmentally responsible development, where she directed a land conservation program for the protection of sensitive lands. Previously, Tavia served as Vice President and Executive Director of the Nature Conservancy for almost 20 years, growing revenue from $150,000 to $4 million annually and overseeing a $100 million capital campaign. Prior to that position, she provided strategic leadership at The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation and at the Northwest Florida Water Management District.

At Coxe Curry, Tavia is currently working with Camp Merrie-Woode, Chattahoochee Nature Center and DeKalb Medical Foundation. Past clients have included Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, Georgia Forestry Foundation, National Infantry Museum Foundation and Truly Living Well.

Tavia has served in various board positions with Atlanta Girls’ School, the Georgia Chamber, Junior League of Atlanta, Leadership Georgia, the Neighborhood and Environmental Policy Council for the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and Zoo Atlanta. Appointed as a trustee to the board of Rivercare 2000 by Governor Zell Miller, Tavia currently serves on the board of the Cherokee Garden Club and the Smithgall Woods Foundation. She is also actively involved with the Lovett School, St. Phillips Cathedral and the National Charity League. 

Tavia is a graduate of Auburn University and attended the nonprofit management program at Harvard Business School. Her husband, Doug, works at SunTrust Securities, and her daughter attends Furman University.
